We are not your traditional jewellery retail store with high fixed overheads. We do not have a glamorous shop with expensive displays and the costs of rent, excessive advertising, security, insurance and employee’s salaries.
What we do have is a passion for jewellery and the expertise. At every step we encourage you to contact us and we will meet with you in person, or communicate via email or telephone and will answer all your questions and provide you with friendly, expert advice. Our aim is to offer you something which you can afford and which you or your loved one will be proud to wear and cherish.
Once you decide on a particular diamond, we do a personal inspection of the diamond. It is a detailed physical inspection of the diamond itself to ensure that the diamond is 100% as specified in the certificate from the E.G.L or GIA laboratories and that it has the expected quality and beauty. This ensures that there will not be a problem concerning size, colour, clarity or proportions.
Seeing that we endeavor to get the perfect diamond for you we will describe every aspect of a diamond whether it is good or bad. You are welcome to inspect the diamond at our offices prior to it being set.
NB: Certificates are only provided for diamonds of 0.30ct. and larger)
Once you have decided on the product you can contact us via e-mail or phone to make an appointment or to place an order. After checking availability we will send you a final quotation which will confirm the details of the item such as the diamond type, shape, sizing, metal and price. You will need to sign the quotation and send it back to us with proof a 50% deposit. Seeing that all our products gets handmade it will take 10-15 working days to manufacture.
We request a 50% deposit before manufacturing and only once the deposit is paid do we purchase the diamond from the supplier. Only at this stage can we ensure that the selected diamond is secured for you and not sold to another purchaser. This ensures that we can keep our price competitive but please note that movements in the US Dollar exchange rate may affect the price if the sales process is prolonged. The final payment will only need to be made once you received and are satisfied with the final product or on the shipping date if not delivered in person.

Goods will only be released upon authentic verified proof of funds in the bank account of Girls Best Friend.
We use a hand-to-hand courier service for all deliveries, if collection is not possible. This means that all deliveries are direct from us, to you personally. We offer free delivery throughout South Africa via our trusted and reputable courier companies. Delivery will usually take 2 - 3 working days, however, occasionally unforeseen circumstances may cause delays. Should we be faced with such an occurrence, we will contact you immediately and discuss a revised delivery date. Each order that we courier to you is fully insured until such time as they are delivered, at no extra cost to you. We can only deliver to a physical address where someone is present to sign for the delivery. If the courier is unable to deliver because the contact person is not present, this may delay the delivery by 24 (twenty-four) hours. If you require a valuation certificate prior to delivery, in order to arrange your own personal insurance, we can email this to you. All purchases will be delivered with a original valuation certificate unless otherwise requested.
Every effort is made to effect shipment of your order timeously.
If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, please contact us within 24 (twenty-four) hours of receiving your order. You may only return the goods if we have supplied the incorrect product or if the item is damaged or faulty. If the item in question is damaged or faulty, we undertake to repair or replace it on condition that we are contacted timeously and that the item is received within 5 (five) working days of your contacting us, along with all original packaging and receipts. If a replacement or repair is not possible, we will refund the purchase price upon receipt of the returned products.
We are available by appointment only on Mondays-Thursdays from 09h00 – 17h30, Fridays 09h00- 15h00 and Saturday's 9h00-12h30. We are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. We are based in Pretoria, Gauteng South Africa. You are welcome to contact us for an appointment to design that Special Diamond Ring and to view your diamond before you purchase.
For all repeat purchases you make at Girls Best Friend we will give you an additional discount depending on the nature of your purchase. We experience that most of our customers return to us for their wedding band, maternity, eternity ring and or diamond earrings to match their glittering initial purchase. We appreciate and enjoy the close relationships we have with our customers and look forward to the stories told about the engagement, wedding or other special event.
GBF can also ship orders to certain countries outside of South Africa, please contact us for more information.
If an order is shipped outside of South Africa, the recipient is the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the destination country. Title and risk of loss for items ordered will transfer to the recipient upon delivery to the common carrier in the destination country.
Prior to delivery to the recipient, the shipment may be subject to customs fees, import duties, taxes, and other charges of the destination country where applicable. These charges are always the recipient's responsibility.
The customs office of the destination country may impose customs fees, import duties, taxes, and other charges to your international order where applicable. These additional charges required for customs clearance are the responsibility of the recipient. When your order arrives at customs either our shipper, or the customs office will contact you directly to arrange for the payment of any charges that may be due.
Country of origin information for your order can be provided by our staff to assist in estimating import duties. Please contact your local customs office for further details.
Value added tax (VAT) will be applied for all orders placed and delivered within the borders of South Africa. The VAT amount is calculated based on the current VAT percentage as indicated by the law of South Africa.
No (zero) Value added tax (VAT) will be applied to orders placed and delivered outside the borders of South Africa. However, taxes, and other charges of the destination country may be applicable.
The South African Revenue Services (SARS) VAT Retail Export Scheme further allows the VAT amount to be reimbursed to customers when they purchase goods in South Africa and then export them outside SA.
GBF reserves the right to cancel an order that has already been approved, should there be a stock availability issue that we are unable to resolve, or in case of a sudden weakening in the exchange rate. In this case you will receive notification of the cancellation and a full refund for your order. Refunds will only be made via EFT. Orders will only be processed on receipt of a deposit and the signed quotation. Quotations remain valid for 24 hours from date of issue.
The images and pricing displayed on the website is used only as an illustration and indication of pricing. Actual items may vary in colour and size. At GBF, we make every attempt to ensure that our online catalogue is as accurate and complete as possible. In order to give you the opportunity to view our products in great detail, some products may appear larger or smaller than their actual size in our photographs; and since every computer monitor is set differently, color and size may vary.
Data, including prices, may be inaccurately displayed on our website due to system or typographical errors. While we make every attempt to avoid these errors, they may occur. We reserve the right to correct any and all errors when they do occur, and we do not honour inaccurate or erroneous prices.
It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that the item is fit and suitable for the purpose it is intended for. All products are special ordered goods and no refunds or exchanges will be accepted.
In terms of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) section 56 (read with section 55), all goods purchased by a consumer are subject to an implied warranty of quality and suppliers cannot contract out of this provision. This means that a consumer has the right to receive goods which are of good quality and are reasonably suited for the purpose for which they are intended for.
GBF reserves the right to refuse, in the interest of fraud prevention, processing any payment for any order, and/or to cancel any purchase partially or completely, with notice given to you. GBF will be responsible for returning funds for the cancelled portion of the order to you only if you have already paid such funds.
